What is your straitjacket size? The double bind in daily communication

Summary/Abstract: We discuss the importance of the double bind theory of Gregory Bateson for the contemporary study on communication. We argue that this theory, which was coined to address pathological aspects of communication, is fully relevant for the analysis of day-to-day (normal) communication and we are giving examples to sustain this view.
