Backpackers ecologic awareness

Summary/Abstract: There is one particular and innovative type of the tourism which in its point teaches individual receiving and experiencing backpacking. It is emphasized that there are not only characteristic basic definitions: individuality, economy, informality, independence but the social aspect which differs it from other types of travelling. The defined backpacker looks for authenticity in contact with the local society and the surrounding nature. One of the most important motivations of backpacking is the will of being closer to the nature. This search of nature beauty should - as it is thought - develop the backpackers ecologic awareness level and form their particular sensitivity towards natural environment.The aim of this research was to get knowledge of backpackers ecologic awareness, the apprenticeships undertaking in natural environment while traveling, diagnosing their proecologic expectations and knowledge of tourist products based on ecological technology.The method used in the research was the questionnaire among one hundred group of Polish backpackers aged 19-50. They had at least one individual backpack travel and they define themselves as "backpackers".
