Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present networks of cooperation created on the basis of the activity of cross-border institutions. Popularization of innovations, knowledge or life styles is subject to the rule according to which information and influence spread via close and deep relations. The place where these relations are formed may be of special significance. Thus, the analysis of the influence that the Euroregion Spree–Niesse–Bober exerts on local communities inhabiting the borderland is particularly interesting. The main research area is the role that the Euroregion Spree–Niesse–Bober plays in creating social connections. The article, by referring to the theory of social networks, analyzes the significance of the Euroregion Spree–Niesse–Bober in initiating, popularizing and reinforcing partnerships in the Polish-German borderland. Close attention is paid to the characteristics of the Polish-German relations in the borderland; existing social networks within the framework of the partnerships created, and the role of the Euroregion as an institution fostering the development of social networks.
