Summary/Abstract: The crisis and strife in Ukraine has once again brought failed state semantics and experts to the centre of the debate. However, considering the numerous facts and indicators that determine whether a state can be qualified as “failed”, it becomes clear that Ukraine is rather a state that has been faced with an endemic political crisis and whose wellknown economic problems, amplified by Russian influence, only increase the difficulty of succeeding in any area.
