Summary/Abstract: The focus of the article is on the need to fit media in the process of school and out-of-school education, with the application of opportunities found in global and local media. A selection of pedagogical and sociological concepts in relation to the above mentioned issues was analysed. What is more, the meaning of media on a micro scale in constructing and reinforcing the regional identity and in protecting cultural heritage of the regions were described.
