Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study is a mural image of St. Dimitry, Metropolitan of Rostov, made by the painter Nikola Obrazopisov on the altar of “Belyova Church” in Samokov. St. Dimitry of Rostov is one of the most venerated saints of the Russian Orthodox Church. He becomes popular among the Bulgarian population after spreading of his “Vitae of the Saints”. Interesting is the appearance of iconographic variant of the saint in the works of the painter Nikola Obrazopisov, a representative of the Samokov School. The image of St. Dimitry of Rostov in “Belyova Church” is one of his rare images placed on altar. Including in his works the image of St. Dimitry of Rostov, Nikola Obrazopisov enriches the knowledge of Bulgarian Christians of little known and still unpopular Slavic saints.
