The cultural landscape of Katowice as a shaping factor of the development potential

Summary/Abstract: The theme of the article is the analysis of issues related to the cultural landscape as a factor in shaping the development potential on the example of Katowice. The text presents legal aspects of the protection of cultural landscape that can be used by institutions related to the heritage protection system. Presented are also the most valuable examples of monuments in Katowice and the methods for their legal protection. Attention is also being paid to the presence of the cultural landscape in strategic documents as an important element which could contribute to building competitive advantage of regions. Analysis of the cultural potential of Katowice indicates that cultural heritage is a very prominent part of development.
