Summary/Abstract: We start from the concept of discourse in general so as to identify the scientific type of discourse, capable of transmitting the knowledge, the truth, on the one hand, and the nonscientific discourse, concerned with opinions, with possibility/probability, on the other. However, we can look at the mathematical discourse from a rhetorical perspective, considering the presence of the voice of the speaker, i.e., the mathematician. The speaker’s voice is directed to the addressee who is supposed to be persuaded and to join the thesis advanced by the former.
