Mickiewicz and Boehme. On the poems: Vision and Defend me from myself

Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article are the relations between Adam Mickiewicz’s poetry and Jacob Boehme’s theosophy. At the beginning, the author investigates the issue of Mickiewicz’s religiosity which needs to be considered in wide historical and cultural context. The author concentrates on two poems: Vision and Defend me from myself which were influenced by the views of the German religious mystic from Goerlitz. The author presents literary aspects of these two poems and the artistic expression of philosophical problems. Eschatological and existential questions become the basis of philosophical problems, which appear in the form of poetry created by a man of genious.
