Summary/Abstract: The article presents signs of the discrimination of women. The author tries to present the reasons of convictions concerning the character of women and their roles in the society. This cause, strongly entrenched in culture, is mindlessness, which is the feature of traditional way of thinking. On the basis of subject literature the author draws the attention to the context of creating attributes which are considered as male or female . What is also discussed, is the problem of defemaling the history, which means that women are ignored in presenting the creation of the world. The role of the language is also emphasised. Language reflects and entrenches some convictions about the role of women in our world. The author shows, on the basis of literature and films, that many stereotypes of the sexes is copied in contemporary works.
