Summary/Abstract: The current paper follows the spatial treatment of the image under a cone of a light, historically put, which “came from the east” of two cinema productions: Silent Wedding (2008), a movie by Horațiu Mălăele and Wedding in Basarabia (2009), directed by Nap Toader. Sensations, relationships, memories, icons of sexuality and ritual in the historical, cultural, religious and political space, based on actual documents which perform in a virtual reality, either happen in subtle metaphors, or stunningly concrete, inviting us, with each frame, to a motivated reflection over our identities and becoming. Space is a fundamental component of any type of tale, be it oral, written or filmed. Only the cinema version is however, capable of simultaneously show both the action and the setting that it is taking place. Therefore, space is a permanent presence in film. And, because cinema has the merit of endlessly evoking an idea, that of invisible space, but which in the same time prolongs the visible (hors-champ), our questions are also build around the spectator who can easily be absorbed in the story, becoming actor and spectator in their own film because: “in front of a film we react as we would in front of an extremely realistic representation of an imaginary space which we believe of truly seeing “ (Aumont et al., 2007, p.17).
