Summary/Abstract: At the time of the war situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina diverse and extremely important production of archival materials dealing with the most important events, processes and phenomena from the war period has been created (1992. to 1995.). This archival material is diverse in structure, content and character, and includes: military, public and personal material. Its content, both individual and cumulative, means that the most crucial events of the war are followed trough this material and it is of utmost importance for historical analysis and treatment of this period of our history to preserve it. These important historical sources contain facts upon which it was possible to make a valid reconstruction of war-related causes of war, war plans, operations, trends and outcomes of important battles, war losses, organization and functioning of the legislative and executive branches of government at various levels, organization of life in certain social environments, treatment of economic, social, educational and cultural issues during the war and especially the treatment and management of refugee problems, which was extensive and complex. The nature and range of archival material includes diverse elements such as documents, photographs, manuscripts, video material, and a number of historical sources in the form of exhibits and other evidentiary material. The material has cumulative and individual structures, and it is a rich and indispensable factor in the objective historical considerations of our wartime past. Pursuant to the provisions of archival legislation in the protection system, this type of archival material must have priority, and must be given due attention by resposible archives. The Archives of Tuzla Canton took largest quantities of wartime produced archival materials, and made it a priority. Such action is worth every praise and attention if we consider in what conditions this institution works and lack of the support from wider community on this issue. Since this is a source dealing with an important historical period and it could have huge historical and scientific importance, historical and archival professions as well as society in general are obliged to do everything to preserve these important historic resources for historical science, society and the state .
