Summary/Abstract: WOODWORK CRAFTS IN TETEVEN AND TROYAN REGIONS AND THEIR PLACE IN THE TRADITIONAL OCCUPATION-PATTERN OF THE POPULATION OF CENTRAL BALKAN RANGE (THE MIDDLE OF THE XIXTH - MIDDLE OF XX TH CENTURY) This article, based on the results of field research of popular woodwork crafts in the area of Teteven and Troyan, aims to reveal their part and significance in the common occupational pattern of the population in this region. The main reasons for the fairly intensive development of these crafts are considered, as well as their transition from a home occupation into a homecraft woodwork, the various courses of practicing them, trade with woodenware and joinery, trade relations and network thus accomplished between the towns and villages in the area. The ethnographic and historical background allows the suggestion that the significant changes in mode of life and the culture of population observed in that period, are due to the development of crafts and especially - to woodwork.
