Summary/Abstract: As a central means of expressing transitivity in Serbian language we can point out merging of verb-predicate with direct object expressed with accusative case without preposition. Accusative case is the most specialized, the most grammaticalized and the most regular means of expressing transitivity. The most common peripheral means in Serbian language is genitive case without preposition. There are three zones of correlation between accusative and genitive of direct object: 1. zone of negative constructions, 2. zone of partitive constructions and 3. zone of facultative using of genitive and accusative. All of the zones mentioned above will be exhaustively analyzed in this article.
