Summary/Abstract: According to the Poland and Western Europe historians research works and empiric material this article is an attempt to reconstruct conception and vicissitude of the Grand Duchies of Lithuania (GDL) western border in the 14th–16th centuries. State border object – “line” genesis, the intensity of delimitation process, the conception of Lithuanian state territorial tribal conglomerate transformation into the territorial state, defined by the treated state borders conceptions are detectable in this article. This article also disclose delimitation definition in old languages comparing to our days terminology. In the second chapter of this article old land line marking specialties, which show us the source of state demarcation process, are discussed. In the 14th century GDL and Mozoviae delimitation process we can develop old lines marking succession. The first west border was fixed at the time of the Vytautas. According to this basement 15th century second’s half border renovation took place. Renovation procession, which was conditioned by internal colonization repression, expanded in the first half of the 16th century. Finally, in the 16th century inhabited frontier, detailed border marking by nowadays signs, part of which was political by nature laid to the rise of line border of GDL.
