The sense of alienation among the youth and its personality and social correlates

Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the paper is to determine possible relations between selected personality (self-assessment, attribution of causes) and social (life perspectives, evaluation of the social reality in the country) factors and the sense of alienation (with its various dimensions) among students of secondary schools during the period of socio-political transformations in Poland. The relevant empirical studies were conducted in the Construction School Complex in Cracow. Data from 145 students were gathered: 96 were students of the vocational school and 49 of the secondary technical school. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to test research hypotheses. As a result, we discovered the correlation between personality and social factors and the dimensions of the sense of alienation as felt by young people under study.
