Summary/Abstract: This article presents the author’s analysis of the use of benchmarking in the objective evaluation of the effectiveness of processes and development projects in business. After showing the essence and interdisciplinarity of modern benchmarking the paper presents an analysis concerning capabilities and limitations of benchmarking application in the analyzed area, including the example of the impact of benchmarking to assess the effectiveness of cost management.
