Summary/Abstract: The paper gives an overview of the organizational structure of the Austro-Hungarian army and the role that Bosniaks played in it. Bosniak regiments within Austro-Hungarian army are discussed, particularly the BH4 regiment which had its seat in Bosnia and was active during WW I on the Soča front. Authors provide descriptions of the Bosniak uniforms and their military life and also draw attention to the monuments that remain silent witnesses of a great many Bosniaks who lost their lives on the Soča front, such as the Military cemetery in Log pod Mangartom, museum collection of the 4th Bosnian-Herzegovinian regiment of Miloš Domevšček in Bovec, Kofranek’s monument to defenders of the Mt. Rombon in Log pri Mangartu etc. A book by MA Ahmed Pašič “Bosniaks on the Soča Front” is mentioned as well. But it is the case of the 11-year-old Elez Dervišević, the youngest WW I soldier, who was made famous through his involvement in the Soča front, that serves as the biggest point of interest. In memory of the Bosniaks who were killed on the Soča front, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian student association called BH4 was established, but it has ceased to operate.
