Summary/Abstract: Russia is experiencing a new wave of emigration, where activists and others are leaving behind a hopeless situation for a new life abroad. However, unlike previous waves, this one has little to do with nostalgia and melancholy. In their new homes, new Russian immigrants have found their place, feel independent and reveal a cosmopolitan approach. They do not consider themselves refugees.
