Boundaries of Art – an outline of chosen issues

Summary/Abstract: The text is devoted to the topic of borders of art and constitutes an attempt to answer the question whether art – constantly broadening its possibilities and annexing new areas – is in danger of blurring its boundaries, which would lead to conceptual anarchy. Although artistic escapades to the borderlands of art have a long history, the postmodern fascination with transformation makes the attempt at a synthesis of the phenomena and views on this subject exceptionally important and urgent. My text defends the attitude according to which a one-time outline of clear and impassable borders of art is not so much impossible as may be harmful for art itself.
