Summary/Abstract: he aim of this paper is to analyse the inequality in Italy by using Dagum’s decomposition of Gini index (Dagum, 1997). Dagum’s decomposition has solved many problems related to the decomposability of the Gini index. The paper is divided in three sections. In the first section is analysed the family context in Italy. The second part presents the explanation of Dagum’s decomposition is explained. Then, in the last part is analysed the inequality in Italy by using the data collected by the Bank of Italy “Survey on Household’s Income and Wealth 2012”.
