Summary/Abstract: Physicians, far from being neophytes in the art of writing, have also tried the power of their pen. Perhaps to offset the unaesthetic they come across daily, but also as a result of their polyvalent education, they have benefited from. Physicians have always been an important part of the intellectual elite of society. By tradition, they were the holders of vast knowledge in different areas, knowledge that sometimes wore their steps beyond the border of medical science soaring them towards the path of arts. In the XVII and XIX centuries, formed in universities abroad, Romanian physicians came back to the country and honored not only the people but also brought an important contribution to the cultural development of the country. Transylvanian physicians promoted both reforms in healthcare as well as fervent nationalism in a troubled period of our history, occupying, through their scientific, didactic and even philological work, a special place in the panoply of illustrious figures of Romanian culture.
