Summary/Abstract: The parental authority governs the relationship between parents and their children and, in respect of this relation, determines all necessary elements which connect parents in the exercises of their common functions (the vertical relationship between parents and children also involves horizontal relationship between parents). Similarly, the parental authority determines the situation of children, whether legitimate or illegitimate, in relation to each other and, where appropriate, on a specific situation or in several situations. Thus, the parental authority is three folded: the first dimension governs the relations between parents and children, the second dimension includes the relationships in between parents and the third one, refers to the relationship between children having the same parents. Each of these group of relations is governed by certain specific, but also complementary, principles. The aim of this paper is to present, in a detailed manner, the fundamental principles of parental authority.
