Summary/Abstract: The human mind is governed by specific rules when it comes to understanding reality. Cognitive sciences, like cognitism itself, can help us understand these rules or bring them closer to us if we take a closer look at the issue as complex as the perception of beauty. From this point of view,the beauty seems to be the trick of the mind which helps us prolong our own species. Ludzki umysł rządzi się specyficznymi prawami, jeżeli chodzi o poznanie rzeczywistości. Nauki kognitywne, jak i sama kognitywistyka, mogą pomóc nam te prawa zrozumieć bądź przybliżyć, jeżeli pod lupę weźmiemy zagadnienie tak złożone, jak postrzeganie piękna. W takim ujęciu piękno wydaje się być sztuczką umysłu, która pomaga nam przedłużyć własny gatunek.
