Summary/Abstract: Aligned to the conviction that the Romanian-Russian bilateral dimension has always had a particular and unusual halo within the international relations repertoire and has been distinguished by a wide range of colours, in the present paper we have undertaken the bold endeavour to examine the Romanian-Russian immediate decor?, thus attempting to illustrate the manner in which the Romanian-Russian bilateral constellation on the section of immediate or recent history has evolved. Thus, by appealing to diachronic usage, we aim to reveal the main referential moments, characteristic to the immediate history of the RomanianRussian rapports, paying an increased attention to the 2001-2004 episode, relevant through the process registered in the bilateral dimension, due to a relatively propitious frame, predisposed towards an incipient recovery and normalization of the rapports. Synthetically, the desideratum of the paper has in view a thorough radiography of the manner in which the Romanian-Russian relationship has been re-conceptualized and remodeled in its immediate horizon, aiming to reveal the subtlety of a complex and fascinating bilateral register, in which the aspirations and initiatives of the protagonists are presently still radically opposed.
