Summary/Abstract: Nowadays it is utterly important to research the main features of the diary as a genre and explore its functions, forms and conventions. The writings of Radu Petrescu, Mircea Horia Simionescu, Tudor Țopa, Alexandru George and Costache Olăreanu force the reader to admit fictional diaries and to find other means of analyzing them. Their diaries generate the feeling of the voyeur and the impression that the writer is lying to the reader. The diaries written by Radu Petrescu create a character who is a fictional projection of the author. Throughout the pages of the work it could be observed how its memoirs become fiction and how the author withdraws himself in the text and becomes literature.
