Summary/Abstract: The topic of this paper is the poetic concept of the Baroque literature in France, which was for a long time neglected or contested. We will first expose the thesis of several French literary critics, with a particular focus on the contribution of Jean Rousset, who rehabilitated the unknown or forgotten poetry of the early seventeenth century. We will then examine the fundamental principles in the selection of the spiritual and love poetry in order to demonstrate which innovative elements break with the literary tradition and trace a path towards modernism. The final part of the paper will thus highlighthe contribution of the Baroque style and legacy to the further development of the French literature.
