Summary/Abstract: The article is an insight into the aesthetic system of a distinguished French film director Robert Bresson, whose ideas about the essences of the cinema and art have far-reachingphilosophical consequences. The basis for this insight is the last Bresson’s film Money(L’Argent, 1983). Bresson is usually attributed a spiritualist attitude and the tendencyfor deep exploration of metaphysical character. Contradictory to this tendency, the authorof the article points to strong depersonalization and mechanization of Bresson’s cinematicworld. The metaphysical elements are only noticeable on such background, forming paradoxical and dialectical confusion of his works. This is the reason why theexplication of Brensson’s system may be the counterbalance for the humanized andover-existential tradition of the philosophical presence.
