THE CREATOR’S DRAMA IN HORIA LOVINESCU’S PERSPECTIVE. MOARTEA UNUI ARTIST

Summary/Abstract: The present paper focuses on the idea of the creator facing death as it is reflected in Horia Lovinescuřs Death of an Artist. The struggle is both a physical and a psychological one. The creatorřs myth is reinterpreted and the central idea of the play reflects the humanřs fear in face of death. The tragically condition of the artist is strengthened by his lack of authority towards the new generation, represented by his son. Manoleřs falling into death is guided by Domnica, a local Charon who constantly reminds him about the great passage from life to darkness.
