Summary/Abstract: This study is a meta-analytic method centered on how the transition from modernism to postmodernism affected the celebration in our society. Lyotard claimed that the postmodernism focused on the necessity to transform a society in a game where every citizen is forced to participate, no matter where they are. Thus, these games have a well define ritual in which every person is passing through a rite of passage. The French Enthnologist, Arnold Van Gennep affirmed in his paper ŖThe Rites of Passageŗ that the rites of passage are taking place only in primate society. After many years from the conclusion of Van Gennep regarding the influences of rites of passage, Victor Turnerřs research reached the conclusion that the rites are representing an everyday rituals, especially in the societyřs celebrations. Regarding on the idea of Vatimo that the postmodernism is representing a mass media of society, the celebration became a center of attraction for every person. The celebration in the era of postmodernism is in fact rational interpretation of the reality where every individual is participating in the rituals. Here, a person is becoming a member of an entity from the moment when he starts to participate in the rituals of the society. In our day, the concept of celebration was adapted to the era of postmodernism, but it kept the rituals sacred.
