Summary/Abstract: This essay aims to concentrate a confession of the author into the mirror of his own existence. Under this symbol, Octavian Paler creates the image of his destiny related to his childhood, the years of study, his readings, the village of Lisa, the lost paradise, the providential moments, the old age, his own biography. The subject of the book is created through an explosion of retorical questions relied to a very strong uncertainty the authorřs life is kept between: his biography and his destiny. His life is divided between them and is being recreated into the broken pieces of the mirror. The author tries to explain them both through a deep process of his conscience. In this way, his destiny penetrates the hidden sides of the biography while his biography hides the shortcomings of his destiny. A kind of literary agreement the author works with….
