Summary/Abstract: The article analyses genealogical aspects of the Serbian writer’s work. Direct context for the author’s dissertation is her conviction that one may find a clear correlation between the plots of Pekic’s narratives, the stories of protagonists presented in the texts and the construction method concerning the literary text itself. Consequently, the concept of foreignness which takes dominant position in his dissertations on the nature of the world is used by the author to interpret the formal shape of his works. Thus the process of creating the works, which cannot be clearly categorized as belonging to only one genre, and the homogenisation of genre strategies concerning high and popular literature results in breaking the opposition: artistic literature – entertainment literature. This may be interpreted as a sign of rejection of the opposition between the centre and its peripherals. In this way, what is “foreign” – far from the centre – becomes included in the centre’s frames, thereby transforming the whole system. Moreover, connecting motifs belonging to various literary conventions seems to prove the genre strategies and artificial beings, unnatural and strange bodies in the literary discourse.
