Summary/Abstract: One of Alexandru George's best writings, so far, his favourite one, the novel Late, in the Evening, is published for the second time, in a final, complete form, in 2010. We talk about the document of an epoch, the way George called it, as it provides the image of a communist era, seen through the subjective eyes of a young man. However, it is the pleasure and the surprise of the researcher to also find many inserts from the writer's biography, as well as a multiple choice of characters, some of them taken from his living reality. A picture of a difficult and developing era, a subjective point of view, given in an excellent manner. Sometimes, the reader discovers himself witnessing a date with Camil Petrescu or George Călinescu, some other times he meets extraordinary people who might have definitely influenced the author's destiny. Nevertheless, we take the liberty to watch an interesting 20th century ”movie”, with common problems, love affairs, attempts to get a good job or with so many examples of quiet, beautiful, innocent life, often projected against an interesting cultural and social background.
