The Neolithic in the Lower Mureş Basin. An Overview

Summary/Abstract: The present study focuses on the Neolithic from the areal conventionally labeled as the Lower Mureş Basin. By analyzing and systematizing available data I have attempted to create a synthetic perspective over the chronological period between 6000 and 4500 cal BC. The numerous excavations and field researches, the large number of available radiocarbon dates, but also the quality of certain publications had been the basis of this historiographic initiative. Nevertheless, the few published researches and the initial stage of multidisciplinary analyses have considerably diminished the quantity and quality of the present interpretation.
