Experimental Contributions to Sociological Immigration-Research

Summary/Abstract: Experiments have not been common in immigration research. In this article I argue that there is a needfor more sociological work utilizing that methodology. I report on a review I conducted of experimentson immigration topics, discuss the advantages of those studies, and propose lines for future sociologicalexperimental research in this area. I also describe and counter the often expressed concerns aboutexperiments in the social sciences – namely, those about (1) artificiality of the designs and (2) limited generalizability of the findings.
