Summary/Abstract: We detail how experiments differ from other types of research. In particular, laboratory experiments involverandom assignment and control. They create artificial environments that are designed to test particularkinds of theories – those composed of concepts not bound to space and time. The aim of cross-culturalexperiments is to ensure that theories are not tested in one cultural setting. Such experiments can helprecognize how different cultures uniquely identify different initial conditions for theory development.
