Summary/Abstract: Professor Dr. Łukasz Kurdybacha (1907–1972) began his cooperation with “The Pedagogical Quarterly” in 1960. His first article was entitled: “Educational trends in the time of Jan Władysław Dawid” (1859–1914). The author showed the pedagogical views of Dawid in the context of the Polish educational movements and the achievements of Western European countries – with the exception of Germany – and the United States. In “The Pedagogical Quarterly” of 1964, Prof. Kurdybacha posted a comprehensive report on the work of the historians of education at the Faculty of Education, entitled “Chair of History of Education and Education 1953–1963”, summarizing the ten-year activity of his Chair and Team. The third article “Vital issues of the International Year of Education” was published in 1971. The author presents three issues: the problems of education in third world countries, issues of lifelong education, based primarily on the French literature, and the third part – a specific report on the achievements of Polish education, specially that addressed to the adults. Two articles devoted to school, Soviet youth and their teachers that were a kind of tribute to the then regime are not included in the discussion.
