Summary/Abstract: Moldova is currently in a state of political and economic crisis. After a huge banking scandal which saw the disappearance of one billion dollars, thousands have organised to protest against the corrupt, pro-European elite. As Moldovans grow increasingly disillusioned, a real danger now exists that the country will slide into greater authoritarianism.
