Summary/Abstract: The name “Babyn Yar” has become a symbol of what has been called the “Holocaust by Bullets” during the last decade. In the absence of a clear, national commemoration policy this place remains the object of “competition” among different remembrances while at the same time an object of political instrumentalisation and speculation.
