Summary/Abstract: Politeness in Spanish operates with linguistic devices that determinate the grade of interpersonal relation. The tendency to establish “confianza”, or solidarity context between speakers could be manifested through syntactic restructuration by the displacement of the verbal argument, which abandons its canonical position. The present analysis operates with different points of view and puts the dislocated restructuration to test in order to confirm its grammatical acceptability. The study observes whether clitic climbing in Modern Spanish could be considered an indicator of the degree of formality/informality in Spanish verbal politeness, and vice versa.
