Summary/Abstract: The article intends to offer a general image of the public health concern in a period marked by deep modernizing changes in the Romanian Society as it was presented in a survey of the Neamţ county.The chronological limits of this matter represent the progress made in this area from the setting up of the first chemist’s shop in Piatra Neamţ in 1825 to the improvement program of the hygiene conditions of the existing balneal and climatic resorts, drawn up by the Public Hygiene and Health Council of Neamţ county
