Summary/Abstract: Searching thoroughly the manuscript no 4608 preserved at the Romanian Academy Library and the hand writing of several files from the fund Tribunalul Judeţului Neamţ preserved at Iaşi County Branch of the National Archives of Romania we succeeded in identifying the unknown author of a playwright written towards the half of the 19th century. He is one of the close friends of Alecu Russo: the Lord Steward Scarlat Ruzenschi, former assessor of the Court of Piatra Neamţ. In the same time several errors regarding the date when the play was written were corrected. This proves that this unfinished play could not have been played in 1840 on the stage of the National Theatre of Iaşi and that the fact that Alecu Russo is one of the characters has no connection with his theatrical activity.
