Summary/Abstract: In the present study, we focused on the research of critical thinking teachers of secondary schools in the Prešov and Košice region. In Slovakia, there is an absence of empirical findings, and it was the main reason for solving this problem in practice. The basic source of obtaining empirical data was Watson-Glaser test, which we investigated the ability of an individual to think analytically. The chosen set of research consisted of 286 respondents from Kosice and Presov region. By Watson-Glaser test, we found that teachers of secondary schools achieved unsatisfactory results in critical thinking. Using a comparison of the results of the British job seekers teaching profession (N = 64), we found that the mean raw score was 64.25 points, which is an average of about 23.10 points higher than the average raw score (41.15) of our selection sample. It is interesting that our best respondent in British reference data ranked to the level of 20. percentile. The main cause of this unsatisfactory situation we see in preference encyclopaedic knowledge before critical thinking in education. Critical thinking skills are considered a key competence 21 century, it is advisable to strengthen lifelong learning of teachers in this regard Key words.
