Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the basic characteristics of the importance of archives in Historical Archive of Subotica for users, with particular emphasis on the user's profile. There are two different groups of users: the researchers are those who use archival materials for the needs of science and engineering, and public and private entities which are using archival materials for the purpose of resolving a civil and human rights. All users of archival material may use archival material under the same conditions with respect to the provisions of the legislation. The number of users is increasing each year which requires the ordering of archival funds and collections, providing conditional space, etc.
