Summary/Abstract: This study examines two contradictory attitudes towards twins in African culture and endeavours to find the common denominator that has induced a positive change in the perception of this extraordinary phenomenon. The motive to write this paper was not to idealise or demonise traditional African societies, but rather to understand some of their rough practices in the context of their respect for fertility and children.
