Summary/Abstract: The population in rural areas of Romania, and especially in mountainous areas, is steadily aging, because of the migration of young population in villages or urban centers. The elderly who remained in the mountain villages are in the majority, no pension, because they lived in areas where there were no agricultural cooperative. They lived in liberal occupations and and did not contribute to the national pension fund. Its sources of income are only producing in their own household. Infrastructure, healthcare and supply are difficult. Thissituation creates particular problems for elderly residents of mountain villages.
