Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the emergence and development of the Library of Birmingham and presents its library, cultural, service and entertainment activities. Individual agendas of the Library of Birmingham are presented, taking into account, among other things, reading rooms, circulation departments, the music library, the Shakespeare Memorial Room, galleries, terraces, library gardens, and centers of excellence. The most significant library projects and other library services taking into account the needs of different user groups are pointed. Additionally, the problems the Library of Birmingham had to face are described.
