Summary/Abstract: This sketch is a contextual analysis and interpretation of one of the later poems by Jan Lechoń. Untitled and starting with: I rose naked from my dream... the poem in question is a record of a mysterious and disturbing vision composed of mutually penetrating iconic and sound structures, cultural topoi (such as manowiec/wilderness, clair de lune or nudity associated with death), universal figures of Judeo-Christian religious imagination (e.g. the Last Judgment and Purgatory) as well as strictly Polish components (Mt. Giewont or Gorzkie żale / Lenten Lamentations/ devotion). The author is interested in the poetic-musical architectonics and imaginary topography construed by Lechoń as well as all that, which comprises the intimate canvas of the spiritual experience inscribed into the poem.
