Summary/Abstract: Based on unedited Russian and Bulgarian documents, the article analyses the struggle for power in the Bulgarian Communist Party after Stalin’s death. The article is important for the information on the relations at the highest level of the BCP, as well as Moscow’s interference. Moreover, the Bulgarian pattern of the struggle for power in 1953-1956 is similar to the other Eastern European Communist parties.
