Summary/Abstract: In this study it is aimed to evaluate 6th grade English curriculum in terms of speaking skills and to identify causes of students’ speaking problems. For this purpose, 11 English teachers were interviewed who are determined by using purposive sampling method. The study is a qualitative research in which structured interview used as a data collection tool. In data analysis, descriptive analysis and content analysis were used within data analysis approaches. In scope of research five questions were asked to teachers and the findings related to the data obtained from these questions presented in the form of tables. From the teacher answers, it is inferred that students have speech problems in general, but it has been concluded that there is not only one solution for or cause of this problem. Teachers participated in the research generally find the program ineffective with regard to developing students’ communicative skills.
